The "GhostEDI" error occurs when a VIN is manually entered despite its availability through EDI. This results in the VIN being unlinked and existing in the system without proper association, hence the term "Ghost" and will not transmit EDI to OBT.
Resolution Steps:
1. Verify EDI Availability: Before manually entering a VIN, always check if it is available through EDI. This step ensures that the VIN is correctly linked and avoids duplication.
2. Use GoPhore’s EDI Merging Utility Tool: If a BOL contains manual VINs and appears on the email report, use the GoPhore utility to resolve this issue:
In GoPhore Navigate to Daily Work > Utilities > Chrysler
- Enter the BOL number in the search box.
- This will display the BOL information and below that VINs
The VIN(s) on the left pane are the manually entered ones. When they are matched to EDI they turn Green. Select one and it will show all Ghost VINs you can tie it to in the right pane.
- Select the correct VIN for this particular movement and click the "Copy OEM Info" button. This action converts the manual VIN into an EDI one.
- Once you do this the VIN on the BOL will turn green, indicating successful matching. The VIN will then be removed from the email warning report.
By following these steps, users can ensure proper VIN association and maintain data integrity within the system.
If no VINs are available in the right pane when you click one, please refer to this article on how to address that scenario: How to Fix NoEDI Error ID.
